Chris Gayle is one of the legends of the game and would also go down as one of the finest overseas batters in the IPL history. He played his IPL career with KKR and then played a big role in RCB's success, playing some of the finest knocks in the history of the league

Galye Opens Up About His Disrespect In Punjab Kings

At the backend of his career, the swashbuckling Caribbean superstar played for Punjab Kings. He played four seasons for them from 2018, and by the end, he finished his career in 2021; he was clearly not at his best. However, now Chris Gayle, in a podcast with Shubhankar Mishra, has stated that the Punjab Kings insulted him in his last season.

The Universal Boss stated that his IPL with Punjab Kings ended quite prematurely when asked whether he misses playing in the league. He added that he wasn't treated properly as a senior cricketer who has done so much for the league and brings great value to the table.

"My IPL ended prematurely with Punjab. I was disrespected at Kings XI. I felt I wasn’t treated properly as a senior who had done so much for the league and brought value. They treated me like a kid," Gayle said on Shubhankar Mishra Podcast.

Depression Signs For Universal Boss

Chris Gayle surprisingly added that for the first time in his life, he felt like he was getting into depression, and he even broke down talking to Anil Kumble. The star West Indian batter stated that he was very disappointed with Anil Kumble and the way the overall franchise was hurt.

The veteran star stated that KL Rahul even called him and told him that he would play the next game, but added that he was done till that time. Gayle added that he just wished KL Rahul all the best and walked out after packing his game.

"For the first time in my life, I felt like getting into depression. I broke down talking to Anil Kumble because I was really hurt. I was disappointed with him and the way the franchise was run. KL Rahul even called me saying, 'Chris, stay, you'll play the next game'. But I just said, 'I wish you all the best', and packed my bag, and walked out."

Thus, Chris Gayle has shared some serious problems with the Punjab Kings management. Many players in the past have also accused Punjab Kings of not treating their players properly, and they are one of the few franchises who are yet to win an IPL trophy. They reached their first final in the 2025 season after a long gap of 11 years and would be hoping that the new Ponting-Shreyas Iyer era would erase all the shortcomings of the previous seasons.
