Dinesh Karthik has given his pick for top eight of the Indian cricket team for the upcoming five-match Test series against England. While Karthik named the usual opening combination of Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul as his choice of openers, the cricketer-turned commentator excluded Nitish Reddy from the middle order, even though the 22-year-old excelled in his debut Test series earlier this year in Australia.
Moreover, the former Indian cricketer paved way for uncapped player Sai Sudharsan to bat at number three for Team India against England.
Sudharsan Tipped For Test Debut In England By Karthik
Dinesh Karthik believes Tamil Nadu and IPL superstar Sai Sudharsan might make his Test debut for Team India in the upcoming series in England. Moreover, Karthik even predicted Sudharsan to bat at number three for India in the series, as he gave his take on India’s potential top eight.
According to the former Indian cricketer, Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul will continue to open the innings while captain Shubman Gill, wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant, comeback man Karun Nair and all-rounders Ravindra Jadeja and Shardul Thakur will constitute the middle and lower order.
However, Dinesh Karthik excluded Nitish Reddy from the line-up, even though the latter emerged as one of India’s only three centurions in Australia, on his debut Test series no less.
Taking to his Instagram story, and as can be seen on several social media fan pages, Karthik named these eight players in India’s potential top eight:
Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Sai Sudharshan, Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant, Karun Nair, Ravindra Jadeja and Shardul Thakur.
Dinesh Karthik’s prediction comes on the heels of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma’s sudden retirements from Test cricket. The upcoming series in England marks India’s first Test assignment since the exit of the two legendary batters.
