On Wednesday, January 29, Australia locked horns against Sri Lanka in the first Test of the two-match series. Meanwhile, captain Steve Smith scripted history as he became the fifth-fastest cricketer to smash 10,000 Test runs. 

Smith required just a single run before the start of the match to reach this milestone. He took that run on the first ball he faced and reached the milestone. The right-hand batter achieved the feat in 205 innings and became the 2nd fastest Australian to reach this milestone. 

Who Is The Fastest Indian To 10,000 Test Runs?

Out of all, Sachin Tendulkar holds the record for being the fastest Indian to score 10,000 runs. The master blaster took just 195 innings to reach the milestone. Further, overall, he is the joint-fastest to 10,000 Test runs alongside Brian Lara and Kumar Sangakkara. 

When Did Sachin Tendulkar Bring Up His 10,000 Test Runs?

Notably, Sachin scripted history in 2005 when he completed his 10000 runs against Pakistan in 2005 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. At that time Sachin broke Sunil Gavaskar's record to become the fastest Indian player to 10000 Test runs.
