In the latest ICC Test rankings released on March 27, Sri Lankan cricket stars have made massive gains in their rankings, showcasing their dominance on both the batting and bowling fronts. Skipper Dhananjaya de Silva leads the charge, following an impressive performance in the first Test against Bangladesh.

Sri Lankan Batters Shine Bright in Latest ICC Rankings

De Silva's outstanding display in Sylhet, where he scored twin centuries, has propelled him to a career-high rating and the 14th position in the Test batter rankings.

His scores of 102 and 108 not only earned him the Player of the Match award but also placed him within striking distance of the top-tier batters globally.

Joining de Silva in the rankings climb is Kamindu Mendis, who also showcased remarkable batting skills with twin centuries in the same Test match.

Mendis, aged 25, achieved a rare feat by becoming the first player to score two centuries at No. 7 or below in a Test match. His contributions have earned him a re-entry into the Test batter rankings, sharing the 64th spot.

Lankan Bowlers Surge Up the ICC Rankings

Furthermore, Sri Lanka's bowlers have also left their mark on the rankings update. Kasun Rajitha,  who claimed an impressive five-wicket haul in the second innings against Bangladesh, has moved six places up to the 38th position.

His teammates, Vishwa Fernando and Lahiru Kumara, also made significant gains in the rankings, showcasing their prowess with the ball during the Test series against Bangladesh.

Fernando climbed seven spots to 43rd, while Kumara moved up six places to equal 46th. They bagged 7 and 6 wickets, respectively, in the match.
