Spain Stun India, Afghanistan To Break World Record For Most Consecutive T20I Wins

Spain is a country known for its football. Meanwhile, cricket has always taken a backseat in Spain as they are yet to receive full-member status from the ICC. 

However, in recent events, for a change, Spain have hogged the headlines for their cricket achievement. Notably, Spain have entered the history books as they became the team with the most consecutive wins. 

After a win over Greece by seven wickets at the Europe T20 World Cup Sub Regional Qualifier C, Spain registered their 14th straight T20I win which is now a world record. 

With the win, Spain went past the record of 13 wins in a row set by Malaysia in 2022.

Meanwhile, Spain's head coach Corey Rutgers, speaking to Cricbuzz,  said:

"A proud record to be notified about today, we obviously don't play for records, but this does feel special for the group. It has been a transformative few years in Spain, and a lot of credit goes to players who sacrifice a lot of their time to play for Espana, the management and my coaching staff. Couldn't be prouder of all involved."

List Of Teams With Most Consecutive T20I Wins

Malaysia and Bermuda are now second with 13 wins each, while India, Afghanistan and Romania are joint third with 12 wins in a row each. Spain would now look to break the overall record of 17 consecutive wins set by Thailand's women.
