In a significant development, there are reports that South Africa are set to face Zimbabwe in a one-off Test before their crucial WTC final against Australia. Notably, on June 11, the Temba Bavuma-led side will lock horns against Australia for the crucial final of premier Test cricket tournament at Lord's.
According to a report from Sportskeeda, South Africa are leaving no stones unturned in their preparation and which is why they are likely to play against Zimbabwe in a one-off four day Test match. Not just Zimbabwe, but the Proteas are also set to lock horns against Sussex on June 3.
At present, South Africa players are busy featuring in the IPL and several stars will fly to England following the group stage games. The remaining stars will join the the Proteas after the completion of the tournament on May 25.
South Africa Boosted With Rabada's Return
Ahead of the WTC final, South Africa have been handed a massive boost as according to ESPN, the South African Institute for Drug-Free Sport (SAIDS) confirmed that Rabada , who failed a doping test on January 21 after a game between MI Cape Town and Durban Super Giants, has served his ban and is all cleared to return to competitive cricket.
Earlier, there were doubts that Rabada might not return for remainder of IPL and even chances of him missing WTC final was there, but now he has been cleared to play the WTC final against Australia.
