In a significant development, Chennai Super Kings have made another change in their squad, as Vansh Bedi has been ruled out of the tournament and the Men in Yellow have roped in Gujarat's Urvil Patel as a replacement. Notably, Bedi was set to play against RCB, but he was ruled out because of an injury.
IPL took to social media platform to announce the change and even before the official confirmation, several users on social media remarked that Urvil Patel's brother, Harshil Patel, has confirmed the news via his social media account. Notably, he uploaded a congratulatory story on his Instagram and wrote, 'Bhai Ka Finally Selection Ho Gaya'.
Recently, there was a report that Patel was also called up by CSK for a mid-season trial. News18 reported this news and at that time hinted at Urvil Patel's selection. It is worth noting that Urvil went unsold during the IPL 2025 mega-auction.
Who Is Urvil Patel?
Patel, who registered at a base price of 30 lakhs, went unsold in the auction. Meanwhile, just a few days after going unsold, Patel smashed a 28-ball century, which is the fastest in the history of T20 cricket by an Indian.
It grabbed several eyeballs, and notably, the 26-year-old scored 315 runs in six innings, averaging 78.75, which included two centuries. Notably, Ayush Mhatre, who also went unsold in the auction, was brought in as a mid-season replacement and is doing well for himself. Meanwhile, Dewald Brevis was also brought in as mid-season replacement.
