South Africa have officially announced their 14-member T20I squad for the upcoming tri-series against New Zealand and Zimbabwe, set to take place in Harare from July 14 to 26.

This series is seen as a fresh start for South African cricket in the shortest format, with some new faces joining the team and a new coach leading the charge.

Rassie van der Dussen To Lead The South Africa Squad

Experienced batter Rassie van der Dussen has been named captain for this tri-series. With years of international experience under his belt, he’ll be guiding a squad that blends young talent with seasoned players.

The biggest talking point from the squad announcement is the inclusion of four players who have received their maiden call-up to the national T20I side. Corbin Bosch and Lhuan-dré Pretorius, both from the Momentum Multiply Titans, have impressed with their domestic performances and now step into the international spotlight.

Meanwhile, Rubin Hermann also gets a chance to prove himself on the global stage. Joining them is spinner Senuran Muthusamy, who has already played Test cricket and ODIs but now makes his debut in the T20I format.

In a major boost, young batting sensation Dewald Brevis has also been included in the squad. Known for his aggressive style and often compared to AB de Villiers, Brevis brings excitement and firepower to the batting lineup.

Coach Shukri Conrad’s First T20I Assignment

It is important to note that this series will be the first T20I assignment for head coach Shukri Conrad since taking charge of South Africa’s senior men’s team across all formats. It’s a key moment for him to shape the team’s T20 plans going forward.

Before flying to Zimbabwe, the players will take part in a two-day training camp from July 9 to 10 at the Centre of Excellence in Pretoria. The camp will be supervised by SA A head coach Wandile Gwavu, helping players gear up for the tour.
