Afghanistan's spin sensation Rashid Khan was brilliant in the recently concluded SA20 2025 League, where he helped his side, MI Cape Town, to win their first title in the league's three-year history. After the game, the MI Cape Town side were seen celebrating with the support staff and players, while their owner, Akash Ambani, was also present on the night of the occasion at Johannesburg's Wanderers Stadium.
After the game, skipper Rashid Khan posted a photo on Instagram of him with Akash Ambani holding the SA20 2025 trophy. Both of them seemed satisfied and relieved after season three's finale, as the Cape Town side finished at the bottom of the table in the first two editions.
How Did MI Cape Town Defeat SunRisers Eastern Cape?
Talking about the game, the MI Cape Town side defeated Aiden Markram-led Sunrisers Eastern Cape by a hefty margin of 76 runs after posting 181 on the board for the loss of eight wickets. In reply, they knocked over SunRisers for just 105 runs inside 19 overs.
It was a well-rounded team effort from the MI side, with Conor Esterhuizen and Dewald Brevis scoring 39 and 38, respectively, while the rest of the batters contributed with decent but effective cameos to push them to a par total on the night of the final.
From the bowling lineup, Kagiso Rabada was the star of the show with four wickets for 25 runs in his four overs, while George Linde and Trent Boult picked two wickets each in their spells. SEC, who have been the defending champions in the first two editions, failed to win the third in a row, as they couldn't fight against the MI storm.
In addition, Rashid's leadership has been highly successful this season, as he missed the previous one due to an injury. His inspirational backing has boosted the side's morale, with youngsters and experienced players rising up to the occasion in different games.
During their 12-match campaign in the recently concluded tournament, they only lost two games throughout, while one of the games was abandoned due to rain.

Notably, this was MI's 11th overall title in franchise league history, with five in the IPL, two in the Champions League, one in ILT20, one in MLC, one in SA20, to go along with one in the WPL. Moreover, the Mumbai Indians franchise recently purchased the Oval Invincibles team in England's The Hundred League, slated to be played in July 2025.
