Gujarat Titans thumped Sunrisers Hyderabad in match 19 of the IPL 2025 season. Legendary Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is under investigations for multiple cases, including corruption. In England, blistering wicketkeeper-batter Tom Banton charted a scintillating triple century against Worcestershire.

Capping an eventful day in the world of cricket, here we take a look at five of the biggest cricketing news that emerged out of Sunday, April 6.

Shubman Gill, Sundar And Siraj Thump SRH By Seven Wickets

Gujarat Titans consigned hosts SRH to a seven-wicket defeat at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in match 19 of the IPL 2025 season. The SRH batted first and formed 152-8 from 20 overs, with Nitish Kumar Reddy top-scoring in the innings with his 31. Heinrich Klaasen made 27 from 19 balls while captain Pat Cummins smeared nine-ball 22* in the slog overs. For the Titans, Mohammed Siraj snared his career-best IPL figures of 4-17, and he received much assistance from Prasidh Krishna (2-25) and Sai Kishore (2-24).

It took Gujarat Titans 16.4 overs to overhaul their target, with captain Shubman Gill leading from the front in the run-chase through his sublime 43-ball 61*. Washington Sundar belted 49 runs from 29 balls and Sherfane Rutherford further boosted up Titans’ NRR with his explosive 16-ball 35*.

Mohammed Siraj Completes 100 IPL Wickets

Gujarat Titans fast bowler Mohammed Siraj completed 100 IPL wickets through the course of his match-winning spell against SRH in Hyderabad. The speedster scaled the landmark figure in his 97th game. Siraj is currently sitting on a pile of 102 wickets from 97 innings at an impressive average of 28.88 and an economy of 8.60. The cricketer picked up 83 of those wickets for the RCB franchise between 2018 and 2024 before he was acquired by the Gujarat Titans at the IPL 2025 mega auction.

Tom Banton Mounts 371 In County Championship

Explosive English batter Tom Banton charted 371 runs from 403 balls for the Somerset Cricket Club in their 2025 County Championship Division One game against Worcestershire. The cricketer belted 56 boundaries and two huge sixes in his innings in Taunton. Banton resumed his innings on Day 3 at 344*, as he threatened to break Brian Lara’s all-time first-class record score of 501*. However, the right-handed wicketkeeper-batter had his monumental effort curtailed by Worcestershire spinner Tom Hinley in the morning session.

Nonetheless, Tom Banton’s epic now marks the fifth highest individual score in County Championship history, and the second highest in the 21st century after Sam Northeast’s 410*.

Bumrah Bowls To Rohit Sharma As Legends Tease MI Comeback

Jasprit Bumrah has been declared fit to resume his IPL commitment for Mumbai Indians after spending four months to recover from his back injury. The cricketer is expected to turn up for the Mumbai Indians in their next match against RCB at the Wankhede Stadium on April 7. Moreover, the speedster was even spotted bowling to legendary opening batter Rohit Sharma in the nets on Sunday. Rohit himself was ruled out of Mumbai Indians’ previous game against LSG, but his latest session indicates that the former skipper is also on track to make his return to the team.
