West Indies named Kevin Sinclair and Yannic Cariah in the playing XI for the first ODI against New Zealand in Barbados. The coin fell in Windies' skipper Nicholas Pooran's favour, who then chose to bowl first on a wicket that he expected to be a little dry.

With Shimron Hetmyer, Gudakesh Motie and Keemo Paul already out of the ongoing series for various reasons, two new faces got the opportunity to represent the Men in Maroon in One-Day format.

Cariah was presented his debut cap by Akeal Hosein, while Sinclair received his from former skipper Jason Holder.

Brief about the two debutants

Yannic Cariah is a leg-spinning all-rounder from Trinidad who bats left-handed and has represented the West Indies U19 side in the 2010 World Cup. He has also played for Trinbago Knight Riders in Caribbean Premier League, the last time being in 2016.

On the other side, Kevin Sinclair has turned out to be an excellent asset for Guyana Amazon Warriors with his off-breaks and athletic fielding. The 22-year-old has played in 6 T20Is until now, scalping a total of 4 wickets.
