Ireland outgun Afghanistan by 5 wickets in deciding T20I to seal the series 3-2

Ireland, on Wednesday (August 17) decimated Afghanistan by five wickets in the rain-curtailed 5th and deciding T20I to clinch the series 3-2. 

Chasing the revised target (DLS method) of 56 in seven overs, Paul Stirling and Andy Balbirnie got Ireland off to a steady start, notching up a 17-run stand for the first wicket.

After the opening duo were cleaned up in quick succession, George Dockrell and Harry Tector held their nerves and managed to get their side over the finish line with two balls to spare. 

The wicket-keeper batter Lorcan Tucker also chipped in with 12-ball 14. For Afghanistan, Mujeeb Ur Rehman grabbed two wickets in his two overs while spin-wizard Rashid Khan also had one to his share.
