In a significant development, the Women’s Selection Committee has announced Radha Yadav as a replacement for Shuchi Upadhyay in India’s white-ball squads for the upcoming England tour. Shuchi, who made her international debut recently in May, has unfortunately been ruled out from the upcoming England tour due to a left shin injury.

Injury Ruins Maiden T20I Dream For Shuchi

The injury was diagnosed during the pre-tour camp held at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (COE) in Bengaluru as reported by the BCCI. It comes as a major blow for the 20-year-old left-arm spinner, who had been in fine form recently and made her first appearance in the international arena during the Tri-series in Sri Lanka.

Shuchi was coming on the back of a fantastic domestic season as she was the third-highest wicket-taker in the Senior Women’s One-Day Trophy with 18 wickets at an average of 15.44 across nine innings. Her standout performance played a vital role in Madhya Pradesh clinching the title.

Radha Yadav Gears Up for Shuchi’s Missed Mission

On the other hand, Radha Yadav, who is an experienced campaigner, will be a like to like replacement for Shuchi. She is back in blue for the first time since December when she delivered an impressive 4-wicket haul against West Indies at the DY Patil Stadium.

Radha will be an important player for the Harmanpreet Kaur-led Women in Blue in the upcoming England tour which will feature five T20Is and three ODIs, set to begin from June 28th with the first T20I at Trent Bridge in Nottingham.
