In the latest development, the New Zealand side is likely to tour India for a white-ball series in January 2026. As per TOI, the tour will comprise of 8 games (3 ODIs and 5 T20I matches). The venues are not decided as of yet but the tour will be a great preparation for the T20 World Cup next year in India.
Kiwis set to tour India
The 5 T20Is will provide the Kiwis a great chance to get used to the Indian conditions as the World Cup will be played here. Also, the 3 ODIs will allow both the teams to make most of their squad and build a perfect team for the 2027 50-overs World Cup.
The tour will commence on January 11 and will end on January 30 as both the teams will get ample preparation time for the mega ICC event, next year.
Will the Kiwis play a Test series as well?
As per the report, the plan is to go ahead with the white-ball tour and there are no scheduled Test matches between the two teams as of yet. However, that can change as the series gets nearby.
What happened the last time NZ toured India?
The last time New Zealand toured India was in 2024 and the Kiwis were involved in a 3-match Test series against the hosts. The Black Caps created history as they thrashed India to clean sweep the series, 3-0. This derailed India's momentum for a place in the WTC finals as the Rohit Sharma led side also lost against Australia in their own backyard and crashed out of the WTC finale race.
This time around, India will be eager for a revenge as they aim to beat the Kiwis in the 8-game white-ball series.
