In a significant development, the BCCI selection committee has announced India's squad for the upcoming Test series against England. While Shubman Gill has officially replaced Rohit Sharma as the captain, Karun Nair makes a much-awaited comeback to the Test setup.

India Unveil Formidable Squad For England Tests

This afternoon, the BCCI selection committee chief Ajit Agarkar announced Shubman Gill as India's new Test captain. He also unveiled the squad for the upcoming five-match series, starting next month.

India's squad for the England tour comprises several familiar faces despite missing the talismanic duo of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Veteran speedster Mohammed Shami and Mumbai batter Sarfaraz Khan miss out on expected lines.

Meanwhile, Karun Nair has received a much-awaited recall following his exploits in the Ranji Trophy 2024-25. Nair, who shifted his base from Karnataka, emerged as Vidarbha's match-winner, amassing truckloads of runs.

Rishabh Pant has been officially appointed as the vice-captain in Tests, replacing ace speedster Jasprit Bumrah in the leadership group. The rest of the squad consists of known faces, with Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Nitish Reddy, Ravindra Jadeja and Dhruv Jurel getting selected.

Easwaran Makes It Into Senior Side For Five-Match Tests

Abhimanyu Easwaran, who was recently named the India-A skipper, has also been included in the senior squad that will take on the Englishmen. He has been rewarded for his consistency in the domestic circuit.

On the other hand, Kuldeep Yadav has made his way back into the Test setup following R Ashwin's retirement.
