In a significant development, the BCCI has imposed a hefty fine on RCB captain Rajat Patidar for a violating major rule in the recently concluded group-stage affair against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). The IPL found Patidar guilty of breaching its code of conduct, eventually sanctioning him for the same.

Rajat Patidar Fined For Code Of Conduct Breach

This morning, the IPL released an official statement, explaining the reason why Rajat Patidar was fined following RCB's defeat in the 65th match against SRH at Ekana Stadium. As the statement read, RCB were found guilty of an over-rate offence in the high-voltage clash.

As a result, Patidar was charged with a level 1 offence under Article 2.2 of the IPL code of conduct, being handed a hefty fine after the game's conclusion.

As this was RCB's second offence of the season, their designated skipper was penalised 24 lakhs, while the rest of the members of the Playing XI, including the Impact Player, were each individually fined either INR 6 lakh or 25 per cent of their respective match fees, whichever is lesser.

RCB's Recent Loss Pushes Them To Third Position

After winning the toss and opting to bowl first, RCB had an ordinary outing with the ball, as SRH posted a massive score of 231 runs in 20 overs. Despite a valiant fifty from Phil Salt and Virat Kohli's useful knock, RCB never bossed the game, eventually losing by 42 runs.

Their defeat against SRH pushed RCB to the third position in the points table, with Gujarat Titans remaining at the top of the pile.
