Shubman Gill moves to the third in the lastest ICC ODI rankings
Shubman Gill, who was struggling with form in the last few games, found his rhythm and smashed an unbeaten half-century against Nepal to get some runs behind his back. His knock of 67 off just 62 deliveries helped him rise to third in the latest ICC Rankings. Moreover, he is the highest ranked Indian in the ODI rankings.
2023 has been the year for Shubman Gill. In just 14 ODI innings this year, he has already scored 827 runs which includes one double-century, two centuries and two half-centuries as well. His consistent performances in ODI cricket have guaranteed him a spot in India's squad for the upcoming World Cup 2023.
Apart from Gill, the former India captain, Virat Kohli is on number 10, while Babar Azam, who scored a brilliant century against Nepal in the Asia Cup opener, maintains his place at the top of the rankings.
The next couple of months are crucial for the Indian cricket and to have a performer like Gill make India a top contender for the Asia Cup and the World Cup.
Talking about India, they thrashed Nepal in their second Asia Cup group stage match, and will now take on Pakistan in the Super 4 match, on Sunday, September 10.
