The camaraderie between Shubman Gill and Sarfaraz Khan has been evident behind the scenes for years, reflecting a relationship built on comfort, trust, and shared moments in the Indian setup. Quite recently, that rapport was once again put on display when Gill made a thoughtful gesture for Sarfaraz, underscoring the bond and mutual respect the two share on and off the field.
As per a latest social media update from Sarfaraz Khan, the Indian ODI and Test captain has gifted him a lavish ‘G-Shock’ watch.
Sarfaraz Khan thanks Indian captain Shubman Gill for ‘timely’ gift
On Tuesday, January 13, out-of-favour Indian cricketershowed off his luxury ‘G-Shock’ watch gifted by national captain and good friend Shubman Gill. Taking to his Instagram account, Sarfaraz shared a picture of the watch, and thanked the Indian skipper for his gesture.
In the caption, Sarfaraz wrote, “Thank you Shubman Gill clean watch @gshock_in”
Notably, this is not the first instance where Sarfaraz and Shubman Gill have traded gifts. Back in late-2024 during India’s Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test tour of Australia, Sarfaraz playfully gifted his cricket bat to Shubman by getting down on one knee.
Sarfaraz continues to fight for Team India return
Sarfaraz was dropped from Team India squad in the home Test series against West Indies and South Africa late last year. Moreover, the Mumbai veteran was also excluded from India’s squad for the Test tour of England, despite making it to the India A squad for unofficial Tests in the country.
With just six Test caps in his career since his debut match from February 2024, Sarfaraz played the last of those matches back in November 2024 during India’s home series against New Zealand.
Despite the setback at the international level, Sarfaraz Khan remains one of Mumbai’s most prolific run-machines in domestic cricket, consistently piling on runs across formats whenever he takes the field. Strong performances in the domestic circuit continue to keep him firmly in contention for a return to the national setup.
