Babar Azam is once again in the headlines for another English language howler with Kevin Pietersen. Language slip-ups are nothing new in cricket, and even the biggest stars occasionally find themselves searching for the right words off the field.

In Pakistan’s case, such moments often grab extra attention, with every offhand remark or a mispronounced word quickly becoming a subject of memes among cricket fans on social media.

On Monday, January 12, the cricketing fraternity witnessed another such instance when senior Pakistan batter Babar Azam fumbled a word during his interaction with former England captain Kevin Pietersen’s at the latter’s YouTube channel.

Babar recently appeared in Kevin Pietersen’s YouTube channel, “The Switch”. In the seven-minute video, the two cricketers broke down the art of handling the short ball.

At one stage when Pietersen asked Babar where he stands at the crease while tackling faster bowlers, the senior Pakistani batter fumbled the word “most” for a certain delicious South Asian dumpling, saying: “Momos of the time I stand in the middle stump”.

Babar preps up for T20 World Cup 2026

Nonetheless, when Babar is not standing in the middle “momos of the time”, he piles up a truckload of runs across all formats for Pakistan. An ODI behemoth and a Test stalwart, the 31-year-old recently found his way back into Pakistan’s T20I squad just before the upcoming 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka.

Pakistan’s all-format run-machine is currently in Australia as part of the Sydney Sixers squad for the ongoing BBL 2025-26 season. While the PCB is yet to name Pakistan’s T20 World Cup 2026 squad, Babar Azam remains a strong contender to make it to the team’s best 15 for the tournament.
