The scandal over the leaked messages involving young cricket players has now taken a new turn, with Abhishek Porel being brought into the limelight.
After Swastik Chikara’s private messages went viral earlier, the same social media user has now shared screenshots claiming to show conversations with Porel as well.
This row has the fans questioning the intent behind these leaks and the growing trend of turning private conversations into public spectacles.
Abishek Porel dragged into ‘chat leaks’ row
According to posts circulating on social media, the girl involved, identified as Ria Ahuja, a 19-year-old influencer, shared screenshots of her chats with Abhishek Porel.
However, unlike earlier cases that carried serious allegations, these messages appear to be completely normal. The exchanges reportedly include simple “hey”, “hi”, and casual attempts to start a conversation, without any demeaning, abusive, or inappropriate language.
This has led to widespread support for Porel, with fans and observers pointing out that there is nothing objectionable in the messages. Abhishek, 23 and the influencer, 19, are adults making choices on their own will.
The fact that private conversations were leaked seems a clear breach of the right to privacy.
Is social media clout to be blamed for this?
Whatever fuelled the debate was the girl herself claiming she had leaked chats for gaining clout and attention online. Screenshots of her own statements are being posted, alleging that she has admitted to this to gain fame.
If true, it raises serious concerns about how easily reputations can be put at risk in the age of viral content.
In the case of Porel, nothing illegal is going on. The chats, as has been noted by many, are very polite and to the point. There are no derogatory remarks, no pressure tactics, and no inappropriate requests.
Some fans believe that this may be a planned effort to defame Abishek Porel, given that it is not the only player that this person is targeting.
As of now, Delhi Capitals star Abhishek Porel has not issued any statement, and there is no official complaint against him. In the absence of wrongdoing, many are urging restraint and fairness.
A private conversation, when conducted in a harmless and respectful manner, should never be used as an object of public humiliation.
