October 31 is the last date to submit the retention list to BCCI for all ten franchises. Ahead of the deadline, every team is busy finalising their strategies and fixate on 4-6 players for the upcoming edition.

1. Virat Kohli To Return As RCB Captain
In the early hours of Wednesday, there were several reports that Virat Kohli is all set to return as RCB captain for IPL 2025. According to a report from Times of India, the RCB management held talks with Virat and conveyed to him that they want the right-hand batter to have a second stint as RCB captain.
Notably, the current captain, Faf du Plessis, is not in the scheme of things for RCB, and they might release him ahead of the auction, which is why the Men in Red are looking at Virat, who left captaincy after IPL 2021.
2. KL Rahul To Leave LSG Because of Personal Reasons
LSG have dealt a massive blow as their skipper, KL Rahul, is all set to change teams for IPL 2025 and has conveyed to the Giants about his decision to leave.
According to a report from Cricbuzz, Rahul wants to leave the franchise because of personnel and professional reasons. While the personal reasons have not been disclosed, it is assumed that his decision stemmed from the public scolding by Sanjiv Goenka after SRH hammered LSG in IPL 2024.
3. Shubman Gill To Take Pay-Cut
According to a report from Cricbuzz, Shubman Gill, who is likely to be the top retention for Gujarat Titans, is set to take a pay cut to help Gujarat save money for the auction.
It is to be clear whether he will allow Rashid Khan to be the first retention or take a pay cut despite being the top retention.
4. KKR To Release Iyer, Starc
A lot is going on within the KKR camp as there are reports that Shreyas Iyer and Mitchell Starc will leave the defending champions as reported by Times of India.
With Shreyas Iyer, it is said that he had a discussion with the KKR management, but his demand for a whopping salary was rejected. Meanwhile, the reasons are unknown for Starc's decision to not play for KKR.
5. SRH Name Five-Retentions
According to report from Cricbuzz, SRH are likely to retain Heinrich Klaasen, Pat Cummins, Nitish Reddy, Abhishek Sharma, and Travis Head.
Klaasen is set to earn 23 crores, while, Cummins will take a pay-cut. Meanwhile, Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head will get 14 crores each. Nitish Reddy is set to earn 6 crores.
