Europe lacks major cricketing nations aside from England, the continent's only Test-playing nation. Teams such as the Netherlands, Ireland, and Scotland participate in ICC short-format tournaments, and recently, teams like Spain, Belgium and many other European countries has also started playing the game.

However despite being cricket giants, England has never won a T20 World Cup game against a European team.

Yesterday's England vs. Scotland game was washed out, meaning England's record of never having won a T20 World Cup game against a European team remains intact for now.

England vs European team in T20 WC

In 2009, in the opening game of Group B, the Netherlands defeated England by 4 wickets. The Netherlands chased down England's 162-5 on the last ball of their innings. Notable players like Dirk Nannes and Ryan ten Doeschate were part of that victorious Dutch team.

In 2014, England failed to chase the Netherlands' 133-5, getting all out for just 88 runs.

Even though England won the 2022 World Cup, they couldn't beat Ireland. Ireland scored 157 runs, and England managed 105/5 in 14.3 overs before the match was decided by the DLS method in Ireland's favor.

Yesterday, Scotland was batting exceptionally well, reaching 90-0 after 10 overs while batting first. However, the game was interrupted by rain at that point and later abandoned. England will have to wait for a win vs European team in T20 WC.

England's next game in T20 WC is against Australia on 8th of June.
