In the latest development, all-rounder Shivam Dube has replaced injured Nitish Kumar Reddy in the India squad for the T20I series against Zimbabwe, starting next month.

The exact nature of the injury is still unknown, but it has been speculated that SRH batter has been ruled out due to a hernia.

Nitish Kumar ruled out of ZIM tour; Dube replaces him

Nitish Kumar had a breakout season for SRH in IPL 2024, playing a couple of crucial knocks, and being one of the mainstays of their batting lineup. In just his second innings of the IPL season, he played a blinder against Punjab Kings (64 off 37), which propelled the Orange Army to a crucial win.

For the last couple of months, BCCI kept an eye on Reddy and he was a part of their long-term plan, but that has been derailed because of the injury.

On the other hand, his replacement, Shivam Dube is currently with Team India for the T20 World Cup 2024. The all-rounder has racked up 106 runs in six innings, at a strike-rate of 107.07. The talented batter was selected in the India squad on the back of couple of stellar IPL seasons for the Chennai Super Kings.

India will play 5 T20Is against Zimbabwe, commencing on July 6. The squad will be led by Shubman Gill, who was released from India's T20 WC travelling squad, a couple of days ago.
