Pakistan cricket is in a big mess as their recent exit from the T20 World Cup 2024 sparked a major row. Former Pakistani players and fans heavily criticised the players and skipper Babar Azam in particular.
There were several remarks made on Babar including that he favoured a few players and ignored talented youngsters for them. In reply, there were reports that Babar filed a defamation case against those who made nasty comments about him and also against a few ex-cricketers.
In the latest events, Ahmed Shahzad, who was also among those who left no stone unturned in bashing Azam, reacted to the 'legal action' threat and stated that the former cricketers should in fact file a legal case against Babar for not winning a trophy in the last five years.
"Former players that he (Babar) is talking about, they should also file a case on him asking when you had a team for 5 years, where have you brought the team, to the 7th spot," Shehzad said on a Pakistan TV channel.
Shehzad also accused Babar of favouring his friends and stating that he ignored young talents.
"The domestic cricketers whom you didn't select for the team, you went ahead with one group, kept on saying that this group would win you matches, but that didn't happen, and those domestic cricketers who didn't get a chance in the past 5 years, they should also file a case and ask questions. They should also ask Babar how you kept adjusting your friends in the team."
After Pakistan's exit from T20 World Cup, there were reports that the PCB might look to replace Azam from the post of a skipper.
