One of India's most successful opening batters, Shikhar Dhawan, will be part of the inaugural Nepal Premier League (NPL) 2024. Ever since his official retirement from international cricket in August this year, T20 leagues seem to have consumed Dhawan , and the latest is for the Karnali Yaks.

The NPL is an event organised by the Cricket Association of Nepal and will begin from 30 November till 21 December. It is expected to have 32 matches- including play-offs and finals- and the model similar to that of Indian Premier League.  The NPL matches will be played at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, Nepal.

Dhawan Joins Ben Cutting, Unmukt Chand And More

In the NPL, Shikhar Dhawan would be representing Karnali Yaks as part of an international lineup featuring notable cricketers , including James Neesham, Martin Guptill, Ben Cutting, and Unmukt Chand. Four overseas signings will see Pakistan's Mohammad Hussain Talat join Hong Kong's Babar Hayat and West Indies' Chadwick Walton in the Karnali Yaks squad.

Dhawan, at 38, is no newcomer to franchise cricket either, having previously appeared for Legends League Cricket (LLC) and proved his worth as an accomplished player in T20 cricket. Dhawan has been part of the Indian side in 34 Tests, 167 ODIs, and 68 T20Is. He has scored over 10,000 runs in all formats of cricket and has bagged an excellent reputation for consistency as an opening batter.
