Former India head coach Ravi Shastri has identified two left-handed power hitters, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shivam Dube, as crucial to India's chances of winning the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.

Both Jaiswal and Dube have secured spots in India’s 15-member squad for the upcoming multi-nation tournament, set to commence next month in the US. Jaiswal was in red-hot form during the home series against England, amassing over 700 runs, setting a record in the five-match series.

Additionally, in the ongoing IPL 2024 season, Jaiswal has already notched up a century. Meanwhile, Dube has been displaying his six-hitting prowess with a strike rate of 170.73 in IPL 2024, averaging over 40 with 350 runs in 11 IPL games this year.

Dube is slated to bat in the middle-order, while Jaiswal will partner with skipper Rohit Sharma at the top of the innings.

Speaking to the ICC about these promising Indian talents, Shastri highlighted their potential, stating, “The two gentlemen you've got to watch out for, and both are left-handers, both playing their first World Cup. One is (Yashasvi) Jaiswal. We know a lot about him, he did extremely well against England, explosive at the top of the order, left-hander, he's young, he's fearless and he'll play shots. But there's someone in the middle order, please watch out for (him), because he  (Shivam Dube) is explosive, he's devastating and he's a match-winner. He hits sixes for fun, and when it comes to spin bowling, he can kill you.”

India has added some promising talents to their squad for the T20 World Cup 2024, enhancing their prospects considerably. With the inclusion of these players, the Men in Blue have become a formidable force and are expected to pose a strong challenge in the West Indies and the USA.
