In the race for the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award for April 2024, Pakistan's star pacer Shaheen Afridi, Gerhard Erasmus from Namibia, and Muhammad Waseem from the UAE stand as nominees. The ICC announced the latest lists of contenders on Monday, May 6.

With standout performances, including figures of 3/13 and 4/30, Shaheen Afridi earned Player of the Match accolades and also Player of the Series, showcasing his exceptional skill and prowess with eight wickets overall.

Namibia skipper Gerhard Erasmus shone during their tour of Oman, delivering noteworthy performances with both bat and ball. His stellar contributions, including two Player of the Match awards, led Namibia to a notable 3-2 victory in the T20I series, amassing 145 runs and claiming eight wickets throughout the month.

Meanwhile, UAE’s opener and captain Muhammad Waseem showed his class with the bat at the top of the order in April, guiding his team to victory in the ACC Premier Cup in Oman. Despite a slight setback against Nepal, Waseem bounced back with a splendid century in the final against the hosts.

His impressive tally of 269 runs at an average of 44.83 positions him as a strong contender for the prestigious ICC Men’s Player of the Month award. If Waseem wins, he will become the first UAE cricketer to achieve this accolade.
