Former Australia cricketer Shane Watson hailed Aaron Finch for a long and successful ODI career and backed him to come out good in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022 and deliver some memorable performances in the marquee event.

Notably, the Australia batting veteran Aaron Finch called curtains on his ODI career after the culmination of the third and final ODI against New Zealand due to his continuous struggles with form and fitness.

The right-handed batter played 126 ODIs for Australia in a career that lasted 10 years and accumulated over 5000 runs. Finch made his ODI debut back in 2013 and was part of Australia's World Cup-winning squad in 2015.

Watson, who is currently in India and playing the Road Safety World Series asserted that Finch would be proud of what he has achieved in his career and also expects that he does well in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia, next month.

"Aaron Finch has had a fantastic career for Australia. He's done well for Australia at the top of the order and won several games."

"I am sure he'll be proud of what he's achieved in his career. Hopefully, we'll see some very good innings in the T20 World Cup."

It is a privilege for me: Watson on playing in RSWS

Watson, on being asked about his experience of playing with the legends of the game in the ongoing Road Safety World Series, the veteran all-rounder replied:

"[I don't try to miss] Any chance of coming to India and playing here. I have always had incredible support here from the public. It was also a great opportunity to semi-represent Australia."

"I had a great opportunity to play not just with Australian Legends but also rub shoulders with the greats of the game, so it is a real privilege for me."
