The caravan of the ongoing Pakistan National T20 Cup continued on Monday, September 12, with Northern and Sindh squaring off against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan respectively.
Here's a recap of what transpired:
Northern v Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 21st Match
Result: Northern won by 6 runs
Northern picked up their 4th win of the season on Monday as they successfully defended their total of 152 against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Northern rode on a three-wicket haul from medium-pacer Mehran Mumtaz (3/20 in 4) and a couple from Zaman Khan (2/31 in 4) to restrict KHK to 146/6 in 20 overs.
Chasing 153, wicketkeeper Mohammad Haris got KPK to a wonderful start as he smashed 3 fours and as many sixes to race his way to a 17-ball 41.
However, Mumtaz entry into the attack proved to be the turning as he not only dismissed Haris but also strangled Khyber's middle-over. He was brilliantly supported by Zaman Khan.
All the good work done by Haris was undone by a negative impact knock from Adil Amin (33 off 30) and skipper Khalid Usman, who consumed 26 deliveries for his unbeaten 28 runs.
Earlier, Northern recovered from a shaky start (3-31 in 5.2 overs) to post 152 thanks to a brilliant 40-ball 52 from Zeeshan Malik and valuable cameos from Mubasir Khan (22 off 17) and Aamer Jamal (20* off 13).
As for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the duo of Ihsanullah (3/35 in 4) and Mohammad Imran Jnr (3/37 in 4) were the pick of the bowlers.
