South Africa picked up a comprehensive 90 run win over England in the third T20I of the series on Sunday.

The Proteas managed to set a considerable total of 192 for the hosts but the Three Lions had a disappointing outing with the bat and they were reduced to just 101 in the second innings thanks to some efficient bowling from Tabraiz Shamsi and co.

South Africa showed mental fortitude to get back into the series

The Proteas were quite underwhelming in the series opener, but they have done well to bounce back strongly.

The visitors won the second and the third T20I to bag the series 2-1.

Reeza Hendricks and Aiden Markram helped the Proteas put up a challenging total with knocks of 70 and 51* respectively. Later, Shamsi came up trumps with the ball to claim his career-best figures of 5-24.

Shamsi hails South Africa's squad depth

The South African bowler outlined the team's depth as one of the major reasons behind their series win over England.

Shamsi revealed (via IOL) that there are multiple match-winners within the squad and the Proteas have now put together a formidable unit, instead of relying on individual brilliance.

“It wasn’t only me today, the guy before me bowled well also. There is a nice thing building with our team. We’ve been on the journey since before the World Cup last year. We have different match winners. We have different guys who put in game changing spells or innings with the bat.”

Proteas will fancy their chances in T20I World Cup

South Africa will be satisfied with their showing against England and they will look to continue their current form and head into the T20I World Cup later this year with confidence and momentum.

The Proteas are up against Ireland in two T20I matches later this week.
