West Indies' pace sensation, Shamar Joseph, who played a key role in the historic Test win over Australia at the Gabba, has secured a deal with Peshawar Zalmi. The franchise has enlisted the 24-year-old Caribbean seamer as a replacement for England's Gus Atkinson for a partial season in the upcoming ninth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Joseph's meteoric rise to fame unfolded at the Gabba, where he sustained a toe injury while batting on Day 3 but made a triumphant return on Day 4, claiming all six wickets to fall in the opening session. His heroics led the West Indies to their first Test victory in Australia since 1997, marking a historic moment in cricket.

Despite having limited T20 experience, with just two matches under his belt in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2023, Joseph's Gabba performance has catapulted his T20 career. Peshawar Zalmi, recognizing his potential, has signed him as a replacement for Atkinson, who remains with the England Test squad in India.

The right-arm fast bowler's franchise journey follows his stunning debut in Test cricket, where he not only dismissed Steve Smith on his first ball but also recorded a sensational 7/68 at the Gabba. This victory for the West Indies was their first Down Under since 1997 and a rare triumph against Australia in the format.

As PSL 9 kicks off on February 17 and runs until March 18, cricket fans eagerly anticipate Shamar Joseph's performance with Peshawar Zalmi, eager to see if his Gabba heroics will translate into success in the upcoming PSL.
