The squad for the upcoming ICC Men's Champions Trophy for Bangladesh has been announced however it misses a huge name: former captain and veteran all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan. The 37-year-old, Shakib, has been part of Bangladesh cricketing team for over a decade, but due to suspension for bowling in ECB-governed competitions, his name has not been included in the squad.
No Shakib Al Hasan In Bangladesh's CT Squad
This decision comes after an independent re-assessment at the Sri Ramachandra Centre for Sports Science in Chennai, India, where Shakib's bowling action was deemed illegal. Although he remains eligible to play as a batter, Bangladesh's selectors have opted not to include Shakib Al Hasan in their Champions Trophy squad.
His absence marks a significant void, especially considering his all-round contributions. Along with Shakib, Litton Das and Tamim Iqbal, who recently announced his retirement once again, have also not been named in the squad.
Meanwhile, looking at the squad wicketkeeper-batter Mushfiqur Rahim and all-rounder Mahmudullah have solidified their spots in along with the inclusion of Parvez Hossai Emon, who earned his maiden ODI call-up after seven T20I appearances. Additionally, promising fast bowler Nahid Rana, who made his ODI debut in the recent series against the West Indies, has also been entrusted with a place in the squad too.
