Shakib Al Hasan's decision to uphold a 'time-out' appeal against Sri Lankan allrounder Angelo Mathews at the ICC World Cup 2023 continues to create a furore on either side as Mathews' brother made controversial remarks against the Bangladesh captain.

The elder brother of the former Lankan Lions skipper, Trevin, has said Shakib will not be allowed to enter the Island nation for Bangladesh's next international trip to the country or for the Lanka Premier League (LPL) T20.

If the premier Bangladeshi allrounder does show up on their shores, the historically calm and nice fan populace of Sri Lanka will be throwing stones at him, Trevin has suggested and warned, calling Shakib's action a breach of the sportsperson's spirit and basic human decency.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, the member of the Mathews household underlined his warning after his younger brother had publicly deemed Shakib's appeal for the timed-out dismissal in Delhi's league stage clash a "disgrace".

"We are very disappointed. The Bangladeshi captain has no sportsman spirit and did not show humanity in the gentleman’s game," Trevin, who has played club cricket in Sri Lanka, said in a direct threat to Shakib.

"Shakib is not welcome in Sri Lanka. If he comes here to play any international or the LPL matches, stones will be thrown at him or he will have to face the annoyance of fans," he added.

Trevin lost his temper and echoed the sentiments felt by Sri Lankan fans against Shakib, who continues to fake the flak for upholding his surprise appeal for a timed-out dismissal against Mathews during his team's must-win World Cup encounter.

The incident occurred when Mathews was claimed to have arrived two minutes late to the crease for his turn during the 25th over of the Sri Lankan innings and has created massive havoc on social media and cricketing circles, with the Lankan batter himself trying to plead innocence in the matter against the word of the match officials.
