Bangladesh's star cricketer, Shakib Al Hasan, has been embroiled in a grave controversy as he faces accusations of involvement in the murder of a garment factory worker. The allegations have emerged while Shakib is in Pakistan, playing a two-match Test series against the hosts.

The case was filed by the victim's father at a Dhaka police station, implicating Shakib and former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Reports from Bangladeshi media suggest that the accusation is linked to Shakib's previous role as a member of the recently dissolved Bangladesh parliament. The dissolution occurred amid political turmoil, with Hasina fleeing the country earlier this month following mass protests.

Despite the ongoing political crisis, Shakib was granted permission by the interim government to participate in the Test series against Pakistan.

I am not thinking about his political career: Shanto

His involvement in the case has cast a shadow over his cricketing duties, though Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto assured the media that Shakib's focus on the game remains unaffected.

"He has played this game for so long, so he knows his role and how to prepare himself. I am not thinking about his political career."

In the ongoing series, Shakib has managed to secure one wicket against Pakistan. His recent performance as the captain of Bangla Tigers Mississauga in the GT20 Canada tournament also raised eyebrows when he refused to play a super over, leading to his team's elimination.
