In the first Test at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, Pakistan asserted their dominance on Day 2, leaving Bangladesh in a challenging position. Pakistan, batting first, posted an imposing total of 448 runs in their first innings, setting a formidable target for the visitors.

On Day 3, the skipper of Bangladesh, Najmul Hossain Shanto, stepped in to replace the departing Bangladesh opener, Zakir Hasan. However, in a turn of events that caught everyone off guard, his innings were cut short as he departed cheaply after scoring 16 runs off 42 balls.

The incident occurred in the 27th over of the Bangladesh innings, when Khurram Shahzad came to bowl his over and quickly removed the big fish.

The ball was around the wicket coming, with a good length delivery nipping sharply back in from outside the off stump.

Bangladesh trail by 386 with 8 wickets remaining

With Shanto playing on the front foot, he didn’t get closer to the ball, trying to defend in the offside. It was the big gap between bat and pad, and in time, the ball sneaks in and hits the top of the off stump.

Earlier in the match, Naseem Shah drew first blood for Pakistan, sending Zakir Hasan, scoring 12 runs.

At the time of writing, Bangladesh are trailed by 386 runs.
