N Srinivasan Becomes CSK Chairman ahead of IPL 2026 [Source: AFP]
Former BCCI president N. Srinivasan is back in cricket administration. Earlier this week, he was officially named the Chairman of Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The franchise believes his return will help them regain their top spot in world cricket, especially with T20 leagues growing fast across the globe.
Srinivasan has always taken a close interest in CSK’s affairs. He’s also been active in the team’s international ventures like the Durban Super Giants in South Africa’s SA20 league and the team’s presence in Major League Cricket (MLC) in the US.
The Srinivasan family has a strong presence in CSK’s leadership:
- Rupa Gurunath (Srinivasan’s daughter) was recently appointed Whole-time Director (from August 24, 2025). She has earlier worked in cricket administration and continues to hold a key role. Rupa also owns 36,440 shares in the company.
- N. Srinivasan himself owns over 4.27 lakh shares and his wife Chitra Srinivasan controls more than 1 lakh shares.
This means the family holds a big share in the franchise, keeping major control within their circle.
