AlexCarey's fine innings of 74 runs for Australia was a testament to the team's unity. He put on a crucial 55-run stand with Aaron Hardie (23) before Carse struck again. When Australia reached 221 for 9, Carey and Josh Hazlewood (4*) added 49 runs to the last wicket before he was dismissed. 

Chasing 271, England had a poor start, losing wickets regularly. Ben Duckett and Philip Salt could not do much but score 26 runs, as Salt fell for just 12. England slid to 65 for 5 in 9.3 overs. Jacob Bethell and Jamie Smith added 55 runs together, but Smith's 49 could not rescue the day for England, as they lost and were bowled out at 202. Mitchell Starc was the best among the bowlers with three wickets, well supported by Hazlewood, Hardie, and Maxwell, all taking two.
