On Sunday, September 22, India registered an emphatic 280-run win over Bangladesh to lead the series 1-0. The visitors failed to chase the target of 515 runs and tumbled for 234 runs on the fourth day.

India were ahead in the game from day one and dominated every session. The Rohit Sharma-led side declared their second innings on day three shortly after lunch as fans felt India could have batted longer.

Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill completed their centuries before returning to the pavilion. In the latest events, Pant, who returned remarkably to Test cricket with a hundred after 634 days, spilt beans on the conversation with Rohit Sharma in the dressing room.

Pant Reveals Conversation With Rohit Sharma

Pant revealed that the message was clear for him and Gill by Rohit during lunch on day 3 and stated that the captain told them that they have one hour to score as many runs as they want.  It led Pant and Gill to shift gears and quickly reach the milestone before the captain declared the innings.

"Jab lunch par gaye the to declare krne ki baat hori thi. Rohit bhai ne bola ki ek ghanta khelne ko dekhenge bhai, apna jisko jitne run banane hai dekhlo. To mereko ek mindset aaya ki yaar thoda jaldi run bana leta hu kya pata 150 bn jae (When we went for lunch, we were discussing about declaring the match. Rohit Bhai said that we will see how long we play for. We will see how many runs we can make. So I got a mindset that I will make it fast. I don't know, maybe 150 runs)," Rishabh Pant revealed during post-match conversation.

Rohit Sharma Heaps Massive Praise On Rishabh Pant's Comeback

Pant returned to the Test set-up nearly after two years and his journey inspired the hitman. Rohit, during the post-match presentation, revealed that India needed Pant in Test cricket. He said:

"Pant has gone through some tough times. The way he has managed himself through those tough times is great. He was part of the IPL and was part of the successful World Cup. He is here and he loves playing in this format. We always knew what he can do with bat and gloves. We wanted him back. He played in the Duleep Trophy and got ready and so happy to see him back."

India will next face Bangladesh on September 27 at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur as they look to seal the series 2-0.
