In a significant development, the ICC, on Tuesday, released the updated T20I rankings for Women's cricketers. Shafali Verma, Richa Ghosh, Renuka Singh Thakur and Shree Charani are among the biggest movers, while experienced batter Jemimah Rodrigues has witnessed a demotion on the batters' list.
Shafali's heroics vs SL helps her go up in ICC rankings
Swashbuckling Indian batter Shafali Verma has showcased remarkable form in the ongoing T20I series against Sri Lanka. The right-handed opener has slammed 236 runs, including three consecutive half-centuries, in four outings at a magnificent average of 118 and a strike rate of 185.83.
Her sublime returns against the Sri Lankans have helped Shafali earn crucial rating points and jump four places up to the sixth in the standings.
Richa Ghosh rewarded in ICC rankings
Apart from Shafali Verma, Richa Ghosh is the other Indian batter to make a significant move in the ICC batters' rankings. The destructive keeper-batter, who smashed 40 runs off just 16 balls in the fourth T20I against Sri Lanka, has leapt seven spots up to the joint 20th position alongside England's Sophia Dunkley.
Renuka and Shree Charani rise in ICC bowlers' rankings
Talking about the Indian bowlers, experienced fast bowler Renuka Singh Thakur and left-arm spinner Shree Charani are the two biggest beneficiaries.
Renuka has been sublime with the ball against Sri Lanka, scalping four wickets in two matches. Her impressive performance in the ongoing series has resulted in Renuka's promotion by eight rungs to the joint sixth spot alongside Nonkululeko Mlaba.
On the other hand, left-arm spinner Shree Charani, who played a pivotal role for India in the World Cup, has progressed 17 places to the 52nd on the bowlers' list after bagging four wickets against the Lankan nation.
However, despite scoring 104 runs, including a fifty, in three innings against Sri Lanka, Jemimah Rodrigues has slipped to the tenth, with Tazmin Brits and Suzie Bates claiming the eighth and ninth positions, respectively.
