Prithvi Shaw, once the young star of Delhi Capitals, is showing great form again in the ongoing Buchi Babu Trophy. After scoring a century earlier in the tournament, he has now hit another solid fifty-plus score.

Shaw seems to be finding his rhythm ahead of the 2025-26 domestic season, where he will play for Maharashtra after leaving his home team, Mumbai, earlier this year.

Prithvi Shaw Scores Another Fifty in Buchi Babu Trophy

Chasing TNCA President’s XI’s big first-innings score of 384/9, Maharashtra lost their captain Siddhesh Veer early. Shaw then built a 47-run partnership with Sachin Dhas for the second wicket.

After Dhas got out for 17 runs for 36 balls, Shaw joined forces with Harshal Kate, adding another 94 crucial runs. The 25-year-old eventually got out for 66 runs off 96 balls, hitting 9 boundaries. He reached his half-century right at the start of Day 3 with a stylish shot for three runs.

CV Achyuth was the best bowler for TNCA President’s XI, taking three wickets. Maharashtra were bowled out for 228 in 74.1 overs, trailing by 160 runs at the time of writing.

Notably, this is Shaw’s second fifty in just three innings since joining Maharashtra. In his first game for the team, against Chhattisgarh, he scored a brilliant 111 runs on a tough pitch, even though the rest of the batting lineup struggled. While he failed in the second innings of that match, scoring just one run, his first-innings century had already made a big impact.

For Shaw, this upcoming domestic season is more than just another competition, it’s a chance to revive his career. Once seen as India’s next big cricket star after leading the U-19 team to a World Cup win, Shaw’s career has been a rollercoaster, affected by injuries, form issues, and even a doping ban. He went unsold in the IPL 2025 auction, but these recent performances suggest he’s hungry for a comeback.
