Shadab Khan 'Hits Back' at Ajit Agarkar's 'Kohli Will Take Care of Pakistan' Comment

Pakistan all-rounder Shadab Khan has fallen victim to a fake social media narrative. The narrative in question indicates that BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar recently made a bold claim about Virat Kohli ahead of India’s Asia Cup 2023 clash against arch-rivals Pakistan.

A few days ago, Agarkar alongside Indian skipper Rohit Sharma unveiled team’s 17-player squad for the 2023 Asia Cup in Sri Lanka. While the two cricketing personalities answered numerous questions at the press conference, bits and quotes from the session have been shared by users across social media.

One such Agarkar quote circulating on X (formerly Twitter) is him bragging about Virat Kohli’s dominance over Pakistan. Upon being asked by a journalist how India will tackle Pakistan speedsters Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf and others at the 2023 Asia Cup, the BCCI chief selector responded:

“Kohli will take care of them”.

As it turns out, no such question was ever asked to former Indian cricketer and no such statement was made at the pre-Asia Cup 2023 press conference.

Shadab Khan, unaware of the legitimacy of the controversial Ajit Agarkar statement, responded back strongly to an equally-clueless Pakistani reporter about the situation.

Ajit Agarkar’s fake jibe stirs up Shadab Khan

After Shadab Khan starred in Pakistan’s emphatic 59-run win over Afghanistan with a three-fer in Colombo, the all-rounder was asked to respond to a fake Virat Kohli jibe made by BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar.

Khan, unaware that no such statement was made, smirked and responded:

“It depends on a particular day, probably. Now, someone from India or me can make any claim, but those are just words. Anybody can say anything and that doesn't change or affect anything. When we will have the match, then we might see what goes on.”

Regardless of the fake jibe, Virat Kohli’s white-ball record against Pakistan has undeniably been nothing short of phenomenal. Even though the two nations have been only meeting sporadically through multi-nation events in the last few years, the senior Indian cricketer has churned up one batting spectacles after the other to script many memorable wins for his side.

Incidentally, India’s Asia Cup 2023 campaign will launch with a match against their arch-rivals on September 2. The much-awaited contest will be played out at Kandy’s Pallekele Stadium.
