Surrey Jaguars, one of the six competing teams from Global T20 Canada League, paid a heart-felt tribute to honour late Indian singer Sidhu Moosewala. The franchise cricket team took to their social media accounts and shared a minute-long video featuring the slain singer’s parents.

Jaguars welcome Moosewala’s family in emotional tribute

Surrey Jaguars, formerly known as Edmonton Royals, made an emotional tribute to honour late Indian rapper Sidhu Moosewala. The Punjab-based singer was gunned down by unidentified assailants in his car back in May 2022.

More than a year after his death, Surrey Jaguars whole-heartedly welcomed the singer’s family in their community. Taking to Instagram, the franchise shared a video where they can be seen holding a Jaguars jersey with one of Moosewala’s pseudonyms, 5911.

His parents, Balkaur Singh and Charan Kaur also featured in the emotional tribute where they can be seen interacting with several franchise officials. In the caption, the Jaguars wrote:

“This is a small tribute to the legend Sidhu Moosewala, who illuminated our lives with his music and spirit. We are truly grateful to Sardar Balkaur Singh Sidhu and Mrs. Charan Kaur Sidhu for giving us this opportunity and we welcome them wholeheartedly to our Surrey Jaguars family.”

Meanwhile on the cricketing front, Surrey Jaguars fell a game short of conquering their maiden Global T20 Canada title earlier this month.

Despite topping the 2023 points table with four wins from their five completed fixtures, the Jaguars slumped to a last-ball defeat in the final against Montreal Tigers to hand them their maiden Global T20 Canada trophy.

The Jaguars squad this season featured a number of prominent international stars, including 2022 T20 World Cup winner Alex Hales and Bangladesh batting maverick Litton Das.
