Former Australian cricketer Adam Voges has been appointed as the new head coach of the Seattle Orcas franchise for next year’s Major League Cricket (MLC) 2026 season. He will be replacing fellow Australian Matthew Mott, who parted ways with the franchise midway into the 2025 season earlier this year.
Under Mott, the Seattle Orcas suffered crushing defeats in each of their first five games of the MLC 2025 season, and eventually finished fifth on the six-team points table with just three wins and seven defeats from 10 games.
Adam Voges hired to rescue Seattle Orcas after disappointing run
Adam Voges is set to replace Matthew Mott as the new head coach of the Seattle Orcas franchise in MLC 2026 season next year. Voges was appointed for the high-profile role after his coaching successes with Perth Scorchers in the Big Bash League, and with the Western Australian team in domestic cricket.
Moreover, the ex-Australian batter has also worked with the IPL franchise, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) as an assistant coach to Justin Langer.
Adam Voges expressed his excitement in joining the team, and acknowledged the league’s continuous growth in the world of franchise T20 cricket.
As stated by the Seattle Orcas on their official website, the franchise is aiming to “strengthen its roaster and expand player development pathways” with Voges at the helm.
It is worth noting that the Orcas are yet to clinch a single MLC title, even though they reached the final of the inaugural edition of the competition back in 2023. They secured a wooden-spoon in MLC 2024, and finished fifth on the six-team points table earlier this year in 2025.
