In a significant development, there are reports that the Delhi Capitals are targeting Jammu & Kashmir sensation Auqib Nabi during the IPL 2026 mini-auction. The 29-year-old is the new talk of the town with his heroics in domestic tournaments and recently underwent trials with the Capitals.
Bharat Ramaraj from Revsportz took to Twitter to reveal that the Delhi Capitals, who are searching for their maiden IPL trophy, contacted J&K star and conducted a trial at their training facility. Notably, the Delhi Capitals have a purse value of 21.8 crores and are looking for a quality seam bowling option.
Auqib Nabi is in high demand for IPL 2026
The 29-year-old is already in high demand ahead of the auction, as the Mumbai Indians also recently conducted a trial for Nabi at their training base. Further, R Ashwin took to Twitter to post a cryptic message hinting that Chennai Super Kings are also eyeing to bring Nabi for IPL 2026.
Further, Bharat Ramaraj, in his tweet, added that a few more teams have scheduled trials with Auqib Nabi.
Why is J&K seamer in demand for IPL 2026?
For the unversed, Nabi is in high demand because of his recent heroics in the Ranji Trophy 2025-26. The right-arm seamer has taken 29 wickets in nine innings, which includes three five-wicket hauls. Most importantly, Nabi can also bat and scored 146 runs in seven innings, which includes a fifty. Notably, there are four players from Kashmir - Rasikh Salam, Abdul Samad, Yudvir Singh, and Umran Malik are the four players.
Nabi's performance has actually lifted Jammu & Kashmir in the ongoing edition as the side from the north is placed second on the table behind Mumbai. J&K have 20 points in five games and suffered a solitary defeat in the tournament.
