In a significant development, the much-talked-about IPL trade swap involving Ravindra Jadeja, Sanju Samson and Sam Curran has officially been executed. Samson shifts his base from Rajasthan Royals to Chennai Super Kings, who have given Jadeja and Curran to the inaugural IPL champions in return.
Jadeja and Curran for Samson: CSK-RR crack historic trade deal
It’s worth noting that Sanju Samson’s trade with Jadeja and Curran was almost finalised before a technical issue related to RR’s overseas players’ quota emerged as a roadblock. However, the BCCI’s interference finally cleared the matter, pushing through the historic trade involving three outright match-winners.
Samson’s addition to the CSK camp provides the five-time champions with a dynamic wicketkeeper-batter option at the top order. Although Ruturaj Gaikwad is the current CSK captain, Samson also gives them a proven leadership option. In 177 IPL matches, Samson has clobbered 4704 runs at an average of 30.94 and a strike rate of 139.04. The former RR skipper had a price of INR 18 Crores in IPL 2025.
Meanwhile, Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran join Rajasthan Royals as potent all-round options. The Royals lacked a genuine allrounder in their setup last season, with Wanindu Hasaranga failing to live up to the expectations. Jadeja has been picked at a price of INR 14 crores, while Curran joins the Royals at INR 2.4 crores, the same amount that CSK paid to secure his services in the mega auction.
Jadeja’s lower-order hitting and spin bowling make him a valuable asset, while Curran can be handy with his medium pace and quick-fire knocks. Apart from these two, RR have also added Donovan Ferreira (1 crore), releasing Nitish Rana to the Delhi Capitals.
