Sylhet Titans opener Saim Ayub has left the franchise midway into the ongoing BPL 2025-26 season in Bangladesh. The 23-year-old is expected to join the Pakistan cricket team for a short three-match ODI series in Sri Lanka later this week.
Saim Ayub’s BPL break will only last roughly a week as he will re-join the franchise after the conclusion of the T20I series in Dambulla.
Saim Ayub to take a break from BPL 2025-26 for Pakistan duty
Quite recently, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) named young top-order batter and aspiring all-rounder Saim Ayub in the Pakistan squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka. The series against Sri Lanka itself will serve as Pakistan’s dress rehearsal for next month’s 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
With international commitments on the horizon, Saim Ayub has now left the Sylhet Titans franchise midway into the BPL 2025-26 season in Bangladesh. However, the 23-year-old will be expected to re-join the Titans after the conclusion of the series against Sri Lanka next week.
Saim Ayub has so far played four matches for the Sylhet Titans this BPL 2025-26 season, and has managed to garner just 68 runs in four innings at a below par average of 17. With the ball, Ayub has managed to pick up three wickets as the Titans franchise find themselves placed at number four on the BPL 2025-26 points table.
Ayub to rejoin Sylhet Titans
Nonetheless, the series between Pakistan and hosts Sri Lanka will be played between January 7 and January 11. All three matches of the T20I series will be hosted by the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium in Dambulla.
As per an estimate, Saim Ayub will likely re-join the Sylhet Titans in Bangladesh for BPL 2025-26 in time for their match against Rangpur Riders on January 12, i.e., a day after the conclusion of the Sri Lanka T20I series.
