In a significant development, seven Pakistani players- Saim Ayub, Sahibzada Farhan, Faheem Ashraf, Khawaja Nafay, Mohammad Nawaz, Salman Mirza and Usman Khan- will miss some part of the ongoing BPL season due to national commitment. On Sunday, the PCB announced Pakistan's T20I squad for the upcoming series against Sri Lanka. While Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi were among the high-profile names to miss out, the aforementioned seven cricketers made it into the team.

Saim, Sahibzada among 7 PAK players to miss BPL matches

Saim Ayub has been signed by Sylhet Titans, while Sahibzada Farhan and Mohammad Nawaz have secured lucrative deals for Rajshahi Warriors in the BPL. Faheem Ashraf and Khawaja Nafay have been picked by Rangpur Riders, with Salman Mirza and Usman Khan representing Dhaka Capitals in the tournament.

However, these seven players are also a part of the Pakistan T20I squad for the upcoming Sri Lanka series announced on Sunday. Led by Salman Ali Agha, the Pakistan cricket team will cross swords against Sri Lanka in three T20Is on January 7, 9 and 11 at Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium.

As these players will represent the national team against Sri Lanka, they will miss the BPL matches for their respective franchises in this timeline. The Pakistani contingent will be absent from the BPL in the Chattogram phase from January 5 to 12.

Shadab Khan to miss BBL due to national commitment

While the likes of Saim and Farhan will miss some part of the BPL, ace allrounder Shadab Khan won't play a few games for the Sydney Thunder after making it into the Pakistan squad for the Sri Lanka T20Is.

The veteran cricketer has recovered from shoulder surgery and would like to present a strong case for his inclusion in Pakistan's T20 World Cup squad.

On the contrary, Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, Mohammad Rizwan, Hasan Ali, and Haris Rauf have been excluded from the Sri Lanka T20Is and will continue to represent their respective franchises in the ongoing Big Bash League season.
