Pakistan cricket has a new poster boy in the shortest format and his name is Saim Ayub. The left-hander, who has been slowly but surely building his reputation, hit a career milestone this week by breaking into the top 10 of the ICC T20I all-rounder rankings.

Saim Ayub Hits Career High, Becomes Pakistan’s No.1 T20I All-Rounder

Sitting pretty at No.10, Saim Ayub is now Pakistan’s highest-ranked all-rounder in the format and is knocking on the door of the big guns like Hardik Pandya, Mohammad Nabi and Dipendra Singh Airee.

The latest ICC Rankings update came after Pakistan wrapped up the tri-nation series against Afghanistan and the UAE with a convincing win in the final. While the headlines may have been about the trophy, Saim quietly stole the limelight with his steady rise. It’s not often that Pakistan cricket produces a genuine all-rounder who can both swing the willow and chip in with the ball, but Saim is starting to fit that bill.

Hardik Still On Top But Saim Not Far Behind

India’s Hardik Pandya still leads the all-rounders’ chart with Nabi and Airee close behind, but Saim’s entry into the elite club shows Pakistan have a diamond in the rough. He is giving fans reason to believe the Men in Green might finally have a dependable T20I all-rounder who can change games single-handedly.

Other Pakistani Movers In The ICC rankings

Saim wasn’t the only one making waves. Mohammad Nawaz also climbed up five spots to 16th among all-rounders. In batting, skipper Salman Ali Agha rose to 57th, while Fakhar Zaman made the biggest leap by jumping nine places to 68th.

Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, both out of T20I action since December 2024, continued to slide down to 24th and 28th. On the bowling side, Sufiyan Muqeem broke into the top 15, Shaheen Afridi moved up to 22nd and Abrar Ahmed soared 39 spots to 27th.

For Pakistan fans, Saim Ayub’s climb into the top 10 feels like a breath of fresh air. The left-hander has shown glimpses of class and now the numbers back it up. If he keeps his form ticking, it won’t be long before he is rubbing shoulders with the very best in the world.
