The county cricket fever among Indian cricketers continues to soar as India’s star spinner Sai Kishore has penned a deal with Surrey for the ongoing season. The left-arm spinner has signed up for just two games.
Kia Oval took to their social media platform to announce Sai’s arrival. The 28-year-old will play Yorkshire from 22-25 July and then travel to Chester-le-Street with Surrey to take on Durham from 29 July to 1 August.
Sai, who has represented India in three T20Is, has also taken 192 First-Class wickets at an average of 23.5. He is in solid form, playing a vital part in the Gujarat Titans’ successful IPL 2025 season, having taken 19 wickets in 15 games.
Sai Kishore Reflects On Representing Surrey
Sai will follow in the footsteps of legendary Indian spinners Harbhajan Singh and Anil Kumble, who have also represented Surrey in the past. Meanwhile, the left-arm spinner reflected on joining the County and expressed that it is an honour for him.
“I’m really excited to be joining Surrey for the next two County Championship matches. Surrey is one of the most prestigious clubs in the world, and I have heard great things about the setup from lots of different people in the game,” remarked Sai speaking to KiaOval.
County Cricket Fever Keeps Soaring
In the past month or so, several Indian cricketers have penned deals with County teams to hone their red-ball skills ahead of the domestic circuit in India post-monsoon.
Firstly, Ruturaj Gaikwad joined Yorkshire for five County Championship matches, starting his stint in July and continuing until the end of the season, as well as the Metro Bank One-Day Cup.
Next up, Ishan Kishan also signed a deal with Northamptonshire for two County Championship fixtures this season, where he was solid and let his bat do the talking.
Also, Khaleel Ahmed has penned a deal with Essex, while Tilak Varma is representing Hampshire.
