Khaleel Ahmed, the left-arm seamer from India, has signed to play for Essex in the County Championship and One Day Cup. The County has been going through a rough time this season, with just one win in eight games, and Khaleel's addition is likely to be a big boost for them.

The Indian pacer from Rajasthan has been in good form in recent times with wickets in white-ball formats and red-ball cricket. He was also the most impressive pacer for the Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2025 and then delivered a strong performance for India A against England Lions.

Khaleel Ahmed Brings International Experience To The Table For Essex

The cricketer has also played 11 ODIs and 18 T20Is for India and would be looking to push for a case in the national side with a good performance in England. Khaleel has played 20 first-class games so far and has 56 wickets in those, and the County experience is likely to help him in his growth as a bowler.

Khaleel Ahmed has also expressed his gratitude after the signing and has shared his excitement to don the Essex jersey.

“I am thrilled to sign for Essex.I have heard a lot about the rich history of the Club, and I’m excited to be part of it and will look to make an immediate impact. I’m looking forward to playing at Chelmsford, meeting the loyal Essex Members and fans, and delivering performances they can be proud of.”

Chris Silverwood, the Essex's Director of Cricket, has also expressed confidence in Khaleel's ability and stated that the Indian pacer would add a different dynamic to their squad.

“We are really pleased to be bringing Khaleel into the Club.We were impressed with his performances for India A and firmly believe he can strengthen our already very strong seam attack. As a left-arm seamer, he offers something different and will add a new dynamic to the squad in both the One Day Cup and the County Championship.”

Khaleel Ahmed will make his Essex debut against Yorkshire on June 29, and will join the likes of Harbhajan Singh, Gautam Gambhir and Murali Vijay who played for the County in the last decade.
